- Preheat oven to 400F (200C). Cook whole wheat penne according to package directions until al dente. Drain.
- While pasta cooks, warm tomato sauce in a large saucepan over low heat. Stir in sour cream and parmesan cheese until smooth.
- Add the drained penne, cherry tomatoes (whole and halved), and chopped basil leaves to the sauce. Stir gently to coat.
- Transfer the pasta mixture to a baking dish. Top generously with sliced fresh mozzarella.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.
- Garnish with additional fresh basil leaves before serving.
