One email every Friday. The lab memo.
What you get
A single email, every Friday morning. Marlow writes it from the same kitchen the recipes get tested in.
Each issue includes:
- What we tested this week. The recipes, the variables changed, what worked.
- What won. The version that ships next on PastaPeak.
- What flopped. With the why. Mistakes are valuable, and we are not above ours.
- The weekend recipe. Always pasta. Always sourced. Sometimes a riff on a regional Italian, sometimes a weeknight bowl elevated.
- Lab notes. Timing surprises, brand differences, equipment observations from the bench.
The whole thing fits one short scroll on a phone. Reading time is around four minutes.
What you do not get
- Daily emails. One per week, never more.
- Recycled blog post titles padded into a “newsletter.”
- Pop-ups, urgency timers, fake scarcity, “limited time” anything.
- Sponsored content disguised as recommendations. The only commercial relationships we engage in are honest affiliate links, fully disclosed on the affiliate disclosure page.
- Forwarding, sharing, renting, or selling your email. Full handling described in the privacy policy.
Why a Friday memo?
Because the test runs happen Tuesday through Thursday and the writeup needs a deadline. Friday is when the kitchen turns into a writing desk and the week’s findings get shaped into something readable. Most subscribers tell us they read it Saturday morning, which lines up with when the weekend recipe is supposed to land on the table.
Archive
The most-replied-to issues from the past quarter are pinned in the welcome email after you confirm. From there, you can request earlier issues by replying with a topic. Newsletter archive is intentionally not public; we keep the conversation between subscribers and the lab.
Reply, do not just read
Marlow reads every reply. The newsletter is the most direct line into the kitchen, more direct than the contact form. If a recipe did not work, if a timing seemed off, if you want to know what we are testing next, replying to a Friday email gets a faster answer than any other channel.
Unsubscribe
One click at the bottom of every email. No “are you sure” pop-ups. No retention surveys. Your time, your inbox.
